Media Advisory: CTA Chair & CEO Scott Streiner to speak at CILTNA conference
Gatineau, Quebec – August 28 , 2017
The Chair and CEO of the Canadian Transportation Agency will speak about the potential impacts of the proposals in Bill C-49, the Transportation Modernization Act, and the CTA's Regulatory Modernization Initiative at The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport’s conference.
The Canadian Transportation Agency is Canada's longest-standing independent, expert regulator and tribunal. Over the course of its 113-year history, its mandates and authorities have undergone many changes as the national transportation system, and views on the roles of public policy and public institutions, have evolved.
Change is again being discussed as part of proposals announced through Bill C-49, the Transportation Modernization Act, which is now before the House of Commons, and the CTA's Regulatory Modernization Initiative.
Scott Streiner, the CTA's Chair and CEO, will speak about the potential impacts of these developments -- and, more broadly, about the role of agile, effective rule-making and dispute resolution in fostering competitive, efficient, and accessible transportation services.
